Jewelry boxes, 'Brother and Sister' (pair)

Jeff Kristianto finds inspiration in the mythical world of the Mahabharata, according to the Javanese version. Kresna and his sister Sembadra adorn two hand-crafted boxes, their portraits painted on cotton, in the style of shadow puppets. Kresna is one of the most popular characters in the Wayang (shadow puppet shows). Said to be tall and handsome, Kresna is brilliant and wise. Sembadra is also beautiful and wise; she married Arjuna, her cousin, and one of the heroes of the Mahabharata.
