Oracle Data Warehouse Tuning for 10g
There are thousands of installed Oracle data warehouses in operation today throughout the world. In general data warehouses are created to help alleviate performance pressure on over-stressed online Internet databases (OLTP databases). Tuning a data warehouse is vastly different to that of tuning OLTP databases (including client-server and transactional databases). Data warehouses store historical data, used for forecasting and planning. It is likely that data warehouse databases will become more common than they are today and perhaps even exceed OLTP databases in number, if they do not already do so. As a result, a data warehouse tuning book applies to not only Oracle technical people but most importantly, to any type of Oracle users, on a global scale including end-users. This book will be second level for our series as Hobbs is a more basic book and this moves to more advanced issues.
