Beekman's Big Deal

By the time he's 12 years old, Beekman O'Day has lived in 14 homes and attended nine schools in Manhattan. His deal-making father tends to pull up stakes and move when the deals sour and the money runs low and, as a consequence, Beekman makes a point of never allowing himself to get attached to places or people. He starts to feel differently, though, when the two wind up at Nutting Court and he gets to know its eccentric cast of residents. Then there's the girl he gets a crush on, and the bullies he faces down, and the new friend he's made in spite of himself.
